WinEdt is a text editor that supports LaTeX documents. The LaTeX system uses programming codes to represent the style of texts and images in a document - this is capable of producing documents with house styles that doesn't change with environment. The output from the program is usually the PDF format.
Since WinEdt is compatible with programs such as MiKTeX or TeX Live (that edit LaTeX documents), it can improve the editing capabilities of these programs. WinEdt has a better editing interface compared to other LaTeX editors, and is more user friendly. But the application is not free.
